The Certified Mortgage Instructor (CMI)designation is for mortgage training professionals who value integrity and professionalism within the mortgage industry. CMI designees will become part of a national network of dedicated and experienced training professionals who are committed to making a difference in mortgage education. To be eligible for the Certified Mortgage Instructor designation, you must first meet specific standards and instructional experience, plus attend an Instructor Development Workshop hosted at the NAPMW Annual Education Conference. Exemptions may apply to those who have been in the training industry for at least three years.

$250 new CMI cost; certified for two years by NAPMW
$100 renewal cost for additional two year periods
$100 to "audit” for existing CMI’s or to take the class
without CMI certification
(fees may be combined, i.e.: if a CMI renews, they can audit
the class for free in that same calendar year)

Continuing Education Requirement:
Continuing Education is an integral aspect of the CMI
mission to help instructors maintain presentation excellence.
· Ensures CMI designees meet the requirements of the Institute of Mortgage Lending.
· Helps ensure that each designee recognizes changes within
the presentation and speaking industry.
· Improves designees’ combined knowledge and helps make the Institute of Mortgage Lending a stronger
Certified Mortgage Instructors are required to have 20 hours
of documented qualified continuing education units (CEUs) every 2 years by
attending or being involved in educational events. Continuing education units
must be obtained within the following categories:
· Public Speaking and Presentation Training – 5 CEUs
· Mortgage Specific Education Workshops – 5 CEUs
· Professional Development Education – 5 CEUs
· Elective – 5 CEUs
The following opportunities will be recognized for Elective
· Service as a NAPMW Board Member or Committee
Chairman/Coordinator (6 CEUs per year)
· Volunteer Community Service related to the Housing
Industry (3 CEUs per day)
· Course Authoring or Textbook Authoring (8 CEUs)
Other continuing education hours may be accepted with proper proof of
